Proverbs 3:5
Proberbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
This month our memory verse comes right from the heart of a super wise man, King Solomon. Whether he wrote all of the proverbs or not, we know that from previous recordings that Solomon was gifted the knowledge of how to handle the many situations around him. When I read this proverb, I'm reminded why it's so important to focus on the Lord.
Read that verse in the context of a dream where God spoke to Solomon in I Kings 3:11-14
"Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. God said to him, “Because you have asked this and have not asked for yourself a long life nor for wealth, nor for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to recognize justice, behold, I have done as you asked. I have given you a wise and discerning heart (mind), so that no one before you was your equal, nor shall anyone equal to you arise after you. I have also given you what you have not asked, both wealth and honor, so that there will not be anyone equal to you among the kings, for all your days. If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and My commandments, as your father David did, then I will lengthen your days.”
Now re-read our scripture for this month. Solomon was wanting us to seek God because he knows first hand how God wants to provide for us. We read through many accounts where God gives more than we ask, seek, or imagine. I hope the scripture this month is a constant reminder to bring it ALL to Him.
